FOXBORO – Saturday marked the first time in history that all MIAA Super Bowls where held in one location, and that each game will provide a “true” State Champion. In the implementing of the new MIAA Football Playoff System a “true” State Champion in all 6 divisions would be crowned. This new system takes over the old system that included 15+ Super Bowls based off region and played in multiple locations.
Dennis-Yarmouth scored first with 0:21 left in the 1st Quarter when Senior QB Spencer Tyler dove into the left end-zone pylon. Doherty bounces back with two touchdowns coming from Luke Brennan and Alfred Adarkwah to end the 2nd Quater.
In the 2nd Half Doherty’s Jahkri Carpenter and Brennan scored to give the Highlanders a solid 28-14 lead. D-Y stormed back with a kick return midway through the 4th. Late in the 4th the Dolphin drove their way to with-in 2 point of overtime. D-Y failed on the 2-point conversion. After an unsuccessful onside-kick the Doherty Highlanders won the Division 4 State Championship
